The first regular long-haul flight from Shanghai has been operated at Tbilisi International Airport, which is managed by TAV Georgia. China Eastern Airlines brought 274 passengers from Shanghai to Tbilisi on an Airbus A330 aircraft, while 283 passengers departed on the Tbilisi-Shanghai route. The inaugural flight was marked with a symbolic ceremony at Tbilisi International Airport. The event was attended by Mariam Kvrivishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia; Zhou Qian, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Georgia; Tea Zakaradze, General Manager of TAV Georgia, and company representatives; He Xiaoquan, Vice President of China Eastern Airlines; as well as representatives from Georgia’s aviation and airport sectors.
There are now three Chinese airlines operating at Tbilisi International Airport, with a total of 13 flights per week to various cities in China. Passengers now have convenient access to Shanghai, Beijing, and Urumqi. In cooperation with the state, TAV Georgia continues to work actively to attract new airlines and further expand the country’s international aviation network.
China Eastern Airlines will operate flights on the Shanghai-Tbilisi-Shanghai route three times a week, every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. The flight duration is 9 hours from Tbilisi and 10 hours from Shanghai
