A practical emergency response exercise, titled “Batumi 2025,” was conducted on 5 December at Batumi International Airport. The primary objective of the training was to strengthen operational response capacities during emergency situations and to assess the airport’s overall readiness for swift and coordinated action in various crisis scenarios.
The exercise consisted of two phases based on a simulated crisis narrative. In the first phase, participants refined their practical skills in managing an emergency arising during an actual flight, following the parameters of a modelled scenario. This stage focused specifically on ensuring rapid and accurate response during an aircraft-related crisis. The second phase took place in the terminal’s departures hall and involved a scenario simulating a natural disaster and fire incident.
The training brought together the airport’s rescue and emergency teams, relevant operational units, “Sakaeronavigatsia”, the medical team of IMC Clinic, and officers from the Aviation Security Division of the Security Police Department. The involvement of multiple agencies significantly enhanced the overall effectiveness of the exercise and contributed to strengthening inter-agency coordination skills.
Such emergency response exercises are conducted regularly at the international airports of Tbilisi and Batumi, managed by TAV Georgia, with the aim of improving preparedness and ensuring efficient management of emergency situations.
