A full-scale simulation exercise, “Batumi – 2024”, was held at Batumi International Airport. The simulation exercise took place in two stages in accordance with the emergency situations provided by the scenario. The first stage of the modeled scenario envisaged an emergency landing and fire on the aircraft, and the second stage – an attempt to use an explosive device on the aircraft while standing on the apron.
The following institutions participated in the full-scale simulation training: Batumi International Airport, United Airports of Georgia, Sakaeronavigatsia, MIA Security Police Department, Aviation Security Batumi Department; MIA Emergency Management Agency, Special Unit of the State Security Service, Demining Group, Medical Center “IMC” and Batumi Emergency Medical Center. To ensure the flight safety simulation trainings are regularly conducted at Tbilisi and Batumi international airports. The aim of the training is to check the readiness, response efficiency and coordinated actions between the relevant agencies, as well as to improve the qualifications of the representatives of the relevant services.
